# Locking Mechanism

The locking mechanism is a key aspect of Dextra DAO, designed to incentivize long-term commitment and alignment with the project’s goals. Key features of the locking mechanism include:

* **Locking Period:** DEXTR token holders can lock their tokens for up to 1 year. Upon completion of this period, they have the option to re-lock their tokens, continuing their participation in the DAO.
* **Voting Tokens:** During the locking period, participants receive goDEX tokens, which are necessary for exercising voting rights within the DAO.
* **Rewards:** As a reward for their commitment, participants who lock their DEXTR tokens receive platform fees in DEXTR tokens, enhancing their overall yield.
